At Shoot the Moon, we are excited to participate in a new grant program provided by the Star Island Corporation, the conference center where StarCon is hosted. Sponsored by the Beloved Community, this grant seeks to address historically underrepresentation communities, specifically people who self-identify as from a historically marginalized racial and/or ethnic community. It offers a meaningful opportunity to engage with the Star community without financial barriers.
Who is eligible?
- Any person who identifies as a member of the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) community, and has never attended a Star Island conference in the past (StarCon included), is welcome to apply.
- This is not a financial need-based grant.
What does the grant entail?
- This four-year grant offers recipients the opportunity to attend StarCon at Star Island annually for the duration of the award. In return, recipients will receive full coverage of their room and board expenses for the first two years, followed by a 50% subsidy for the third and fourth years.
- The room and board charge is for a full-week stay in a shared standard.
- The convention fee, parking, and transportation to the ferry launch in Portsmouth, NH are not included in the grant.
How to apply?
- Fill in the online grant application form by Friday, June 27th.
- Grants will be awarded on a first come, first served basis as supplies last.
